Interuniversity Micro-Electronics Centre VZW (imec) is an independent research centre in the field of microelectronics, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, design methods and technologies for ICT systems. Imec was founded in 1984 as a result of a programme set up by the first Flemish government to strengthen the microelectronics industry in Flanders.
